Ligne de faille (Fault Line) envelops viewers in a contemplative space where the trace of a fracture reflects vulnerabilities. The dark streak evokes the subtle yet profound impact of failures that shape our existence and reveal the delicate connection between resilience and fragility. In this shifting terrain, movement creates elevated plateaus and depths, inviting exploration of diverse perspectives on these salient features, reminding us that our nature is often defined by our own sudden shifts translating into slow transformations. Rooted in Sébastien Pitt’s Segments series, this artwork conjures dreamscapes that weave between perception and affect. Generated with a custom MAX8 patch for 3D audiovisual performance, each scene features 3D structures, vertex displacement, and transparency shaders, creating dynamic textures and layered depths with a 360° rotation at 0.01 Hz. Rendered at 4K horizontal @60fps in a 100-second loop with ProRes 4444 and CPU-compressed H.264 via FFmpeg.
