Pylônes

Created about 1 year ago
Pylônes (Pylons) captures a surreal interplay of light and form, where tall, shadowy structures rise against a luminous ground. Soft, glowing light emerges from below, casting delicate highlights on the pylons, creating an ethereal scene that feels both grounded and otherworldly. This piece draws viewers into a space of quiet observation, a survey of presence and void, where each pylon stands as a silent witness to the tension between solidity and emptiness. Rooted in Sébastien Pitt’s Segments series, this artwork conjures dreamscapes that weave between perception and affect. Generated with a custom MAX8 patch for 3D audiovisual performance, each scene features 3D structures, vertex displacement, and transparency shaders, creating dynamic textures and layered depths with a 360° rotation at 0.01 Hz. Rendered at 4K horizontal @60fps in a 100-second loop with ProRes 4444 and CPU-compressed H.264 via FFmpeg.
