Submergé

Created about 1 year ago
Submergé (Submerged) dips viewers into a fluid play of colors and depths, where shades of teal flow like waves, evoking tranquility and mystery. Layers merge and shift, creating an atmosphere that invites contemplation while navigating our emotional depths. The gradual transition between darkness and light encourages reflection on repression, revealing hidden aspects of ourselves and the unseen currents that shape our perceptions. This piece, part of Sébastien Pitt’s Segments series, embodies his approach of crafting dreamscapes that merge perception and affect. Created with a custom MAX8 patch for 3D audiovisual performance, each scene features intricate 3D structures with vertex displacement and transparency shaders, creating evolving textures and layered depths in a 360° rotation at 0.01 Hz. Rendered at 4K vertical @60fps in a 100-second loop, it uses ProRes 4444 and CPU-compressed H.264 via FFmpeg.
