Éclat

Created about 1 year ago
Éclat (Shatter) coats the digital canvas with a vibrant wall of soft blue tints where luminous shards fuse the viewer’s gaze between abstraction and reality, revealing the tension between beauty and the coercive abyss rotating infinitely. This play of light recalls crystalline reflections, creating an atmosphere that hints at a quest for depth, manifesting tactile effects through shimmering transparencies and morphing forms. This piece, part of Sébastien Pitt’s Segments series, embodies his approach of crafting dreamscapes that merge perception and affect. Created with a custom MAX8 patch for 3D audiovisual performance, each scene features intricate 3D structures with vertex displacement and transparency shaders, creating evolving textures and layered depths in a 360° rotation at 0.01 Hz. Rendered at 4K vertical @60fps in a 100-second loop, it uses ProRes 4444 and CPU-compressed H.264 via FFmpeg.
