Durk van der Meer

Durk van der Meer (1978) is a freelance digital artist living in Curacao, an island in the Caribbean. Starting out as an architectural visualizer he gradually shifted to becoming a virtual world and character designer His virtual world SUKU won 'Best Art World' at the Raindance Immersive festival 2024, and was also part of the Venice Immersive exhibition at the Venice Biennale of 2024 Together with Micah Johnson he created a character called Aku, for which he create lots of art including an illustration that was featured on the cover of TIME magazine. He also illustrated both Aku books, which are published by Penguin Random House and won the JLG award. Clients include: Cannes film festival, MLB, Sky, Redbull, Amazon, Starbucks, Beats by Dre, Deepack Chopra foundation.
